Day of tech inspection...STILL haven't left town...but the buggy was looking good! We had only 2 hours of sleep because we were in the shop until 4:00 a.m. doing the final preps.

After getting home from the shop, we realized we hadn't even packed our clothes yet, done any laundry, packed anything from the house, etc. We were supposed to leave our house by 7:30 a.m., but we didn't leave until around noon. All of our team members were eagerly waiting for us in Point Loma all morning, and wondering if we were going to make it in time for tech inspection in Ensenada, which was to close at 5:30 p.m.

Race day...STILL haven't passed tech inspection. We were working on the buggy since 5:30 a.m. (after going to bed at 12:30 a.m.) to fix things so that we could get a second inspection before the race.

we pulled next to any curb by the start line with enough room for our rig and just worked on the buggy until we thought we could take it back to tech inspection. About 2 hours before the race, the buggy finally passed and our chase crews were sent down the road.

Chase 1 stayed back and continued on the frantic pace of fixing all the remaining things needed to be done...safety wire on the CV joints, double D clips on the seat belts, correcting the colors of the race numbers (white on black or black on white), bleeding out the brakes and finding the leak and replacing the line, loading up tools in the buggy emergency tool box, and trying to get the damn motor to start and then run smooth.
